Last Will and Testament of Samuel MAJOR, 5 Apr 1733
| I Samuel Major of Stowe Nine Churches in the County of Northamptonshire, Yeoman, calling to mind the mortality of my body in knowing that it is appointed for all men's omens to die I do therefore make and ordain this my last will and testament in manor and form following. That is to say - Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and as touching my body I recommend it to this Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named and as touching my terminal state I dispose thereof as alloweth. That is to say - I will that all those debts that I owe to any person or persons whatsoever shall be satisfied and paid by my Executor. I give to my grand-daughter Elizabeth ??? of Foster's Booth five pounds to be paid to her twelve months after my decease by my Executor hereinafter named. I give to my grand-daughter Sarah TOMKINS of Kislingbury five pounds to be paid to her twelve months after my decease by my Executor hereinafter named. I give to my grand-daughter Hannah AYRES five pounds to be paid to her twelve months after my decease by my Executor hereinafter named. I give to my daughter Eleanor CARPENDER ten pounds to be paid to her by my Executor. That is to say five pounds part therefor twelve months after my decease and five pounds more residue to be paid two years after my decease by my Executor hereinafter named. I give to my son-in-law Nicholas BLISS one shilling. I give to my daughter Alice TOMKINS one shilling. I give to my son-in-law John AYRES one shilling and further my will is that Samuel BLISS my Executor shall maintain his brother Nicholas BLISS till he shall obtain to ye age of sixteen years of age. I give to my grand-son Nicholas BLISS aforesaid twenty pounds to be paid to him when he shall attain to the age of sixteen years by my Executor. And all the rest and residue of my Goods and Chattells I do give and bequeath to my grand-son Samuel BLISS whom I do make sole Executor of this my last will and testament. And further my will is that if my daughter Eleanor CARPENDER shall happen to die before ye money is paid I give the aforesaid ten pounds to my grand-daughter Elizabeth ???. Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of March in the year of our Lord 1733. |
