Last Will and Testament of Joseph BLISS, died 22 Sep 1705

In the Name of God - Amen - I Joseph BLISS of Stowe in the County of Northampton being sick in body but in sound and D??? memory ??? to given to life for the founded make this my last will and testament in manner and form following.

That is to say first and principally I resign my soul unto the Merciful hands of Almighty God my Creator assured knowing through his merits of my Blessed Saviour I claim redemption of my sins and my body I commit to the Earth whence it was taken ??? ??? ??? buried by the direction of my Executor thereinafter named.

As for the worldly goods the Lord hath ??? me I dispose thereof as follows.

I give and bequeath unto my loving wife twenty ??? and give to my wife Alice Bliss the ??? (rest of sentence unreadable).

I give to my wife one bed and bedding and a bolster and her goods she brought to the house. And I give to my wife the biggest ??? but one and ??? a ???.

It is my will that my loving wife shall have one quarter of mill corn when my said wife shall Demand it and I give to my loving wife six ???. And ??? to ???? six years.

And it is my will that my son Nicholas BLISS shall pay his mother four pounds of ye bounty the first year after my decease and ten pound more the next year apportion his part from ??? he shall have the first ten pound.

And it is my will that my son Nicholas BLISS shall build a house of the hay Barn to dwell in and to begin the next years after my decease and this to continue one whole year after my decease with my son Nicholas and my wife shall handle use of the children's money till they come to age.

And I give to my son Joseph five pounds and to my son John five pounds and to my daughter Elizabeth five pounds and to my daughter Sara five pounds.

And I give to my daughter Ann ten pound and I give to my daughter Mary four pound and a ??? bed and a feather pillow and a Chest.

And to my daughter Ann I give one ??? bed and a bolster and a Chest.

And I give to my son Nicholas and to my daughter Ann and to my daughter Mary a Chest of Linen to be equally divided between them.

And I give to my daughter Ann the best set of curtains and the ??? bed that ??? ??? and best porcelain dish and to Mary the other best porcelain dish.

As for my son Joseph and my son John their money is to be paid when they are fit to be Apprentices

And my daughter Elizabeth and my daughter Sara when they come to age. And my daughters Ann and Mary their ??? ??? to be paid when they come to age.

I give to my daughter Mary one ??? ??? and it is my will that my loving wife Alice BLISS shall have the Kitchen and the room above it and the B??? to D??? in n??? the term of one whole year.

And at the rest and residue of my goods and chattels not ??? ??? before ??? had after my Debts and funeral expenses D???.

I ??? to my son Nicholas BLISS whom I make Sole Executor of this my last will and testament revoking all ??? wills. I ??? heretofore made in witness whereof I have ??? ??? my hand and seal the 26th day of August 1705.
