Our mission | Sessions |
We are OFSTED registered for 20 children aged 2-5 years. We have fully qualified staff and high staff-to-child ratios. We are a registered charity run by a parents committee and rely on fundraising to keep our costs low. Sessions are £5 and lunch club is £2.50, both fees being substantially lower than other childcare facilities in the area. We accept early years funding vouchers so from the age of 3 all children are entitled to 5 free sessions per week in term time. We offer a huge variety of activities and follow the National Curriculum for early years. We have specific literacy and numeracy activities which help prepare children for school. We also have a secure outside area with climbing toys, ride-ons and much more. Parents are encouraged to come and visit the pre-school if they are interested. | We open Mon, Tues, Wed, Thur and Fri. Lunch club runs from 11:30am to 12:30pm |

| What an exciting time to be part of Occold Pre-school. At the end of last term we held our usual Sports Day – a scorching hot day I am sure you all remember, as it was also the Occold Yard Sale. We had all the usual races for the children with everyone being cheered on and congratulated for taking part and then finally we had the parent’s race where just taking part wasn’t enough – it’s only the winning that counts! At the end of the summer term we also said goodbye to several of our children as they graduated from Pre-school to Primary school. We wish them all well at their new schools. Even though the term ended on the 17th July some of the children just couldn’t keep away and came back the following Monday to attend the Holiday Club. (Several of the usual Pre-school staff obviously felt the same way and just had to come in to run it!) It was a huge success with several children aged between 3 and 11 attending on Mondays and Tuesdays. This year it was held in the Occold Primary school (and on the field) with lots of activities ranging from cooking, T-shirt painting, games and adventure walks etc. etc. During the summer holidays staff and parents have continued exercising their muscles moving the contents of the old Pre-school to the new Pre-school ready for the opening on the 5th September. See the pictures!! | What a day it was! There was hand printing on ceramic tiles and other fun activities for the children and the usual tea and cakes for everyone else. Diane Moore, a former key member of staff for many years officially opened the new facility (with a blunt pair of scissors!) This was a chance to get special people together that have helped support and continue to support the Pre-school. It was also an opportunity to say thank you and a chance for everyone to have a good look at the great new facility and a sneak preview at the extra items that are still to come! |
