Many of the brave young airmen of the 95th Bomb Group based at Horham Airfield took this flight training advice to heart
when they returned to their American homes, safe at last from the horrors of war.

It was from Horham that war was taken to the German capital but for many years no interest was shown in this important battlefield.

There can be little doubt that if it wasn’t for the actions of Occold’s Frank Sherman and a handful of friends, evidence of this important chapter in our history would have been lost for ever.

The newly renovated Red Feather Club Museum, with its remarkable murals, has become something of a shrine to elderly Americans and their descendants and a timely reminder to us all that sometimes freedom cannot be taken for granted.

The Museum is open for eight Sundays from April to October
including a Grand Open Day on May 14th
